Thankyou very much to all those involved in the last two Social
Evenings, the Bring and Buy was a huge success and John
Melling kept us very entertained with his talk on his BSA Bantam.
The last Club Night took place on Wednesday 11th

Bio-fuel which contains up to 5% Ethanol in petrol is found to be having
serious damaging effects on not just vintage machines, but machines of
all types including household appliances that run off fuel. Here at the
Vintage Club we want to do something before it is too late,
unfortunately for some of our members the consequences of using the
fuel has already caused irreversible damage.
VMCC Member Iain Houghton has been experimenting with different
products to stop the effects of the ethanol on several machines please
follow his results and for more details on the effects, and for a way to
stop an increase of Ethanol in UK fuel please visit the following page:

Following our March Social Evening hosted by John Melling (unfortunately Stu could not make it) our VMCC North West
Bike of the Month is awarded to them and their BSA Bantam. At the March Social Evening John talked us through the
details of the BSA Trials Bantam. It was built in 2010 around a BSA D7 frame which has been modified (lowered) for trials. It
has a BSA C15 swingarm to clear the larger trials tyre and has been lengthened by 1.5". It also has BSA replica forks with
modified internal damping, homemade alloy yolks, and Falcon Alloy Shocks. The BSA Bantam has a lower primary drive
ratio, modified lower 2nd gear, and Todd head at 10:1 comp ratio with 50% squish band. It also has a Standard D14 barrel
bored to 185cc (Suzuki TS185 piston), electronic ignition and a stainless exhaust/silencer.
The BSA Bantam is a fantastic example of a well developed machine to be used to compete in many events. One of the
main events the Melling's attend is Brian Moorcroft's Trials which take place at the Leisure Lakes near Southport during
the last Sunday of the month.
Congratulations to John and Stu for becoming BIke of the Month. And thankyou from all of our members for hosting a
brilliant Social Evening.
Check out the new additions to our For Sale Section.
Some great buys have been added, act quick.
E-Petition - Re-introduce a 30 year rolling vehicle excise duty exemption scheme, for classic vehicles.
The North West Section of the of the VMCC's Wreck of the Month for April 2012 goes to Alan Johnson with his brilliant find.
Alan may have originally been looking to buy a set of luggage for an upcoming trip, whether that was what he was searching
for he gained this fantastic machine which came handily parcelled up in the suitcase. The 1946 Norman is bound to keep
Alan nice and busy for the near future. We will update you with any progress Alan may have made in the future.
However if you would like to nominate yourself or anyone else in our new section of the website as 'Restoration Project of
the Month', please contact us at vmccnorthwest@hotmail.co.uk.
For Sale
For too long now the tax exemption of classic cars has been frozen, to only apply to those manufactured before 1973.
History did not simply stop in 1972. These are not cars which are driven everyday but rather on sunny weekends, to attend
enthusiast shows etc. It is vitally important that we help to preserve this important part of British motoring history.

Thankyou to John (and Stu) Melling for hosting the
March Social Evening for our section. John informed
members of their interesting tale of their BSA Bantam
and the stages thhy have gone through to get it to
such a successful machine. All of our members who
attended thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were
very interested in John's talk.
We wish them the best of luck in future events they
are competing in.
Thankyou to Viv Harris for organising and hosting his club run on Sunday 14th April. Your efforts for the club are

E-Petition - Concern over Euro Custom Rules
There is growing concern about legislation being considered by the EU which could prevent prevent bike owners customising
their machines. It is feared that the new "anti-tampering" rules may even result in a ban on machines over seven years old
being used in urban areas. An e-petition opposing the draft legislation has been set up on the Governments website.

Unfortunately not many turned out to Gordon's Gallop due to
the horrible weather. Thankyou to those hardcore troopers
who did turn up to support Gordon, and to the man Gordon
himself. We really do appreciate the effort that Gordon will have
put into organising and preparing his run, and it is a shame
that it was spoiled by the weather. We hope Gordon will
rearrange this run to another night! We will keep you informed!
Thanks Gordon!
The Riverside Show took place recently on the 21st and 22nd May. Thankyou to Alan and Jean for organising our section's
